Excuse me while I pick up my jaw from the floor. I saw this amber-hued beauty this morning and I think my eyes are still reeling from pleasure. Something about it seems entirely equine, scholarly, something out of a Faulkner novel:

“…And as soon as the old people said, “Poor Emily,” the whispering began. “Do you suppose it’s really so?” they said to one another.”Of course it is. What else could . . .” This behind their hands; rustling of craned silk and satin behind jalousies closed upon the sun of Sunday afternoon as the thin, swift clop-clop-clop of the matched team passed: “Poor Emily.”

– A Rose For Emily, Faulkner

I did some hunting online and found this on the Bergdorf Goodman site for about $1000 and the Neiman Marcus site on sale for $745. It also looks like there are some knock-offs circulating on the net, too, but the bags in question do not have that reddish-brown hue that is so lovely. Which brings me back to wistful gazing at the photo above. Well, I can dream, can’t I? :)
